Three years after its release, Black Celebration was ranked the 15th-greatest album of all time by Spin Magazine. In 2011, Radio X cited it as one of the most influential albums of the 1980s. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails has also named Black Celebration as an inspiration for his 1989 debut, Pretty Hate Machine.
